Story mapping and sketching – humanising the requirements process
User story spreadsheets and spec docs are a great way for project teams to gather and define requirements, but what happens when they don’t work for the user – your client? We’ll take you through our old requirements prioritisation process and explain its pitfalls, before talking about how we’ve used story mapping and sketching workshops to make requirements definition more enjoyable for both clients and internal project teams.
Will is a UX consultant at Sift Digital, where he has worked on design and digital transformation projects with clients such as Ofcom, St John Ambulance, and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. Will used to run an insight agency that worked with some of the largest organisations in Financial Services and Higher Education, and has a ton of experience in not only gathering research insights, but communicating them and coming up with strategies to resolve those human issues arising from research.
